Dear Colleagues,
Working With Autism (WWA) has been certified by UCLA and will begin forming PEERS (Program for Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) social skills groups in the month of September, in order to begin running the groups in October. The PEERS Group is an empirically supported and highly individualized program, which fosters the development of awareness of self and others, particularly with regard to social thinking. This is a 14 week program that targets the development of the skills necessary for adolescents, ranging from 12 to 17 years old, to create meaningful peer relationships. Groups meet once per week and parents are active participants in the program, helping to foster the development of targeted skills by providing feedback through coaching and socialization homework assignments. Multiple groups will be formed depending upon interest. Please feel free to contact me if you have a client in mind, or pass on my information to interested families.
